Ok I admit I’m deeply frustrated at being here but I’ve thought of one or two small changes they could make which could improve things in my opinion at low cost.
Firstly the beds: they use old style sheets and thin blankets which are almost impossible to keep tidy particularly if you’re a restless sleeper like me.
Why not fitted sheets (the ones with elasticated corners) and wipeable nylon duvets with washable covers.
Secondly the wards: at Goodmayes which covers three London boroughs they use a ward per borough. I see no logic in this.
To my mind it’d make more sense to use a ward per presentation/severity/diagnosis.
Those most severely affected patients could have intensive care, the less severe could have a lighter regime and for example those with depression or PTSD could have a quiet ward or corridor and plenty of talking therapy.
Just a couple of ideas on a lonely night at 2am.
