And fire in the sky
I’m back with another post, this time about religion and nutrition and specifically about the religious experience I had in the few days after Christmas.
Firstly I have to tell you that just a few days before Christmas I was given yet another unwanted injection of antipsychotics and this may have contributed to the intensity of the experience.
But then once I came down to Earth a bit and started thinking about how nutrients affect mood I wondered why I had such an intense religious experience and promised to attend church.
And I think the answer lies in lamb, eaten at both easter and on boxing day. I haven’t looked at what nutrients are in lamb to have caused it but it’s possible that eating lamb at Christ’s birthday celebration and death and resurrection fills believers with a heightened sense of love and awe in God.
